Hornady 4DOF Ballistics App Now Communicates with Terrapin X

From Hornady

Users of the Hornady 4DOF (4 Degrees of Freedom) Ballistic Calculator App can now obtain trajectory solutions even faster with connectivity to the Terrapin X laser rangefinder.

Hornady 4DOF provides more accurate trajectories than standard ballistic calculators, even at extreme ranges. Trajectory solutions are based on projectile drag coefficient (not ballistic coefficient), along with exact physical modeling of the projectile, its mass and aerodynamic properties.

The app—used successfully by hundreds of thousands of shooters—works even in areas lacking wireless connectivity.

Now Terrapin X users can send range, inclination and azimuth directly to the 4DOF app via Bluetooth—eliminating the need to enter that data by hand. Values are instantly updated within 4DOF, providing accurate and fast ballistic solutions.

“Using the Terrapin X laser rangefinder in conjunction with the 4DOF app allows the user to simply range the target and be provided an instant and accurate shooting solution,” Hornady ballistician Jayden Quinlan said. “Range, inclination and azimuth are important inputs the user can now supply the app in one push of a button.”

More and more companies are going wireless on their weaponlight and scope solutions, too. Here’s my look at the trend.

The Hornady 4DOF Ballistic Calculator App is available free for download from Google Play and the Apple App Store.

Likewise, the new 4DOF connectivity is free to Terrapin X owners by simply updating to the newest firmware version (TerPin 13.01). Detailed instructions are available here.
