This new ammunition uses an advanced polymer bullet coating to reduce lead fouling inside a suppressor by up to 60 percent. The exclusive feature allows much easier suppressor cleaning and maintenance, as well as excellent accuracy. With dependable CCI priming and consistent propellant, the loads cycle reliably through any suppressed firearm.

“Clean-22 ammunition provides an advantage because its polymer coating replaces the wax that is traditionally applied to .22 LR ammunition,” said CCI Rimfire Product Manager Dan Compton. “The goal of traditional wax is to protect the barrel of the gun from buildup of lead or copper created as bullets pass through it. But this wax does not totally encapsulate the bullet, so metal and wax deposits eventually build up and the gun needs to be cleaned. However, because the Clean-22 polymer coating completely encapsulates the bullet, it does a better job protecting the barrel from dirt and buildup than wax. The cleaner results are quite impressive.”

King City (CA) PD Implements Viridian Gun Cameras

The King City, California Police Department has deployed the FACT Duty Weapon-Mounted Camera (WMC). As transparency in Law Enforcement once again becomes a critical need at this juncture in society today, Chief Robert Masterson and the department have the only technology and tool dedicated to capturing Officer Involved Shootings.

King City is in Monterey County of Central California and sits almost equidistant from several large, major California cities on the banks of the Salinas River. King City is the first department in California to complete implementation of the FACT Duty which is in various stages of testing and implementation in over 40 states across the country.

More and more companies are going wireless on their weaponlight and scope solutions, too. Here’s my look at the trend.

“The Weapon-Mounted Cameras were purchased and implemented to capture use of force incidents where officers drew their firearms or were involved in an Officer Involved Shooting,” said King City Police Captain Keith Boyd. “As we have all seen, the country, the community and the world expect objective and immediate evidence of Officer Involved Shootings. And this gun camera does just that. They complement our body worn cameras and we see them as a benefit in modern policing.”

Viridian has created an important category for law enforcement with the Weapon-Mounted Camera. This distinctive camera provides an unobstructed view of critical use-of-force events from the end of the firearm, addressing limitations officers can face with body cameras.

“We commend Chief Masterson and the King City Police for being on the leading edge of law enforcement,” Viridian President and CEO, Brian Hedeen, said. “California has one of the largest number of officers in the country, so this is absolutely needed. Our technology can be a supplement or alternative to body cameras as a mandatory evidentiary tool to provide the critical evidence in an officer involved shooting.”

Not only does this eliminate risk of failure to manually turn on the camera during a critical event, but it also keeps the officer from fumbling with cumbersome equipment.

NSSF, the firearm industry trade association, is pleased to announce the release of its newest event resource for retailers and ranges, the e-book “How to Create Participation and Sales with National Shooting Sports Month.”

“National Shooting Sports Month, since its launch in 2017, has experienced significant growth in the number of ranges and retailers hosting events and promotions throughout August,” explained Zach Snow, NSSF Director, Retail & Range Business Development. “We expect that trend to continue this year, but, at the same time, we realize that 2020 thus far has been a year of most unusual circumstances.

“All our ranges and retailers are operating in a new business environment, and we fully understand that most are focused on adjusting to these shifting changes,” Snow continued. “But we also know that, with record firearm sales—including tens of thousands to first-time buyers—and easing lockdown restrictions, shooters of all experience levels are anxious to get to the range, expand their shooting skills and have some much-needed fun. This new e-book was developed to ease event organization in these rather chaotic times so that our retailers and ranges can do what they do best—get people shooting.”

A comprehensive, 30-page, downloadable and printable PDF, “How to Create Participation and Sales with National Shooting Sports Month” provides a deep-dive into branded event hosting during the month of August. Retailers and ranges are provided a step-by-step map that takes retailers and ranges from event conception, pre-event marketing and the event registration process to event-day management and follow-up. Readers will also gain a thorough overview of the numerous resources NSSF provides those industry members participating in August’s celebration of the shooting sports.

The e-book “How to Create Participation and Sales with National Shooting Sports Month is available for download now and is free to both NSSF members and non-members. NSSF encourages all firearm retail and range owners to print out the e-book to use as their primary event creation resource. FFL and range owners are also welcome and encouraged to distribute this e-book to their sales and marketing staff and seek their input in coordinating August events. Once plans are finalized, industry members should immediately add those events to the national calendar at ShootingSportsMonth.org in order to receive NSSF’s promotional package of T-shirts, ballcaps and other materials.
