Garmin Solar Edition Tactical Watches

Garmin Solar Edition Tactical Watches

From Garmin

Garmin today announced three new tactical GPS smartwatches; Instinct Solar – Tactical Edition, tactix Delta – Solar Edition, and tactix Delta – Solar Edition with Ballistics. In addition to significantly increased battery life through solar charging technology, these new tactical GPS watches incorporate new fitness monitoring, on-the-fly battery life customization through Power Manager, ballistic solutions provided through integrated Applied Ballistics Elite™ software, and much more.

“Garmin builds products that are essential to our customers. We understand many of these individuals depend on their gear in the world’s most challenging environments while under intense pressure. At times, stopping to charge your watch is simply not an option. Incorporating Garmin’s proven solar charging technology into the Instinct and tactix GPS smartwatches allows customers to focus on the task at hand and less on battery percentage,” said Dan Bartel, Garmin vice-president of global consumer sales. “Additionally, customers who compete in long-range marksmanship will enjoy and benefit from the incorporation of Applied Ballistics Elite software in tactix Delta – Solar Edition with Ballistics.”

Mission-ready Features

Packed with features for navigation and training, the Instinct Solar – Tactical Edition and tactix Delta solar editions also come preloaded with multiple features specific to tactical operations. These include night-vision goggle compatibility mode, Jumpmaster, dual-position GPS formatting, preloaded tactical activity, waypoint projection and stealth mode. The tactix Delta solar editions also have a kill switch to wipe all user memory and revert the watch to factory settings. Individuals may find this option useful if they work in a position where data saved on their watch could be considered sensitive.

For airborne operations, individuals can use Jumpmaster for three jump types: HAHO, HALO, and Static. Set the watch to dual-positioning mode, and it will simultaneously display two sets of coordinate systems, such as MGRS and latitude/longitude, on a single data screen. When night-vision mode is activated, the backlight settings of the screen will reduce to a level that won’t interfere with the function of night-vision goggles. Enabling stealth mode prevents storage and sharing of GPS position and quickly disables all wireless communication to and from the device. When operating in stealth mode, GPS location position is visible on the device; however, locations are not saved to device memory or shared. This allows for training in areas with security concerns without revealing the user’s location.

Instinct Solar – Tactical Edition

Constructed to military standards (MIL-STD-810), the Instinct Tactical GPS adventure watch is a reliable tool built to endure the most challenging environments. The Instinct Solar – Tactical Editionbuilds on this legacy and provides users up to 24 days of battery life in smartwatch mode or up to 54 days in smartwatch mode with sufficient solar exposure. Additionally, Instinct Solar – Tactical Edition provides up to 30 hours in GPS mode or 38 hours with sufficient solar exposure. Users can make battery-extending changes on the fly through the incorporation of Power Manager.

In addition to the robust outdoor activity and health tracking capabilities found on Instinct Tactical, the Instinct Solar – Tactical Edition now also provides Pulse Ox2 technology and Body Battery™. Pulse Ox is a noninvasive method used to measure the saturation of oxygen in the bloodstream. Body Battery is a feature that uses a combination of heart rate variability, stress, sleep and activity to estimate a user’s energy reserves throughout the day by displaying a number from 1-100 that represents an individual’s energy level.

Modular Driven Technologies Adds TAC21 Gen2

Modular Driven Technologies Adds TAC21 Gen2

From Modular Driven Technologies

Modular Driven Technologies is excited to announce the newly updated TAC21 Gen2 to their line of precision rifle chassis systems.

The MDT TAC21 was MDT’s very first chassis system, launched in 2009. Since then it has been used all over the world by sports shooters and law enforcement. The new TAC21 Gen2 Chassis System has received a number of design updates for increased reliability and performance. The end cap to which the buttstock is attached can now be removed quickly and easily with a locking adjustable lever. Upgraded barricade stop grooves, ambidextrous mag latch and a 15” full rail M-LOK forend are among some additional changes made to the Gen2 version.

One of the reasons that the MDT TAC21 Chassis has been so successful over the years is its straight-line design. Looking at the chassis system you can see that it is designed in a way to ensure that from the barrel to the rear of the buttstock is a straight line, helping recoil push directly back giving you superior accuracy and follow-up shots. The TAC21 Gen2 also features an integrated top rail and an enclosed action housing. The chassis is AICS magazine compatible with the ability to use AR buttstocks and grips.

Like most MDT Chassis Systems, the TAC21 Gen2 is manufactured from 6061 aluminum, features V-Block bedding and is finished in your choice of Black or Flat Dark Earth Cerakote.

As always, MDT offers 100% satisfaction guarantee.

Available inlets: Remington 700 SA, Remington 700 LA, Tikka SA, Tikka LA, Savage SA, Savage LA, Right Handed.

The MDT TAC21 Gen2 Chassis System has a starting price of $689.95.

Introducing the newest Bond Arms Rough Series gun—The Grizzly

Introducing the newest Bond Arms Rough Series gun—The Grizzly

New for 2020, Bond Arms announces the newest member of its Rough Series family-the Grizzly. The new single-action double barrel pistol inherits the premium features found on all Bond Arms. Like all Bond Arms, the Grizzly features stainless-steel barrels and frames, cross-bolt safety, retracting firing pins, spring-loaded cam-lock lever and rebounding hammer.

The Grizzly’s 3-inch barrel, with blade front sight and fixed rear sight, is chambered in .45 Long Colt and 2½-inch .410 bore shotshells. The Grizzly frame is compatible with all standard Bond Arms’ barrels. Vibrant rosewood grips engraved with grizzly bear artwork, the Bond Arms name and a checkered panel, add texture and character to the pistol. The pistol includes a matching leather holster embossed with a grizzly bear.

The Grizzly joins Bond Arms’ Rough Series that includes the Rowdy and Roughneck models. They build these value-priced pistols using the stainless-steel construction and quality control standards seen in all their guns but cut down on the polishing and hand-finishing, passing the savings on to their customers. Rough Series pistols undergo a minimal cleanup and deburring to make sure there are no sharp edges and then are bead-blast finished. Parting lines in the metal frame and trigger guard, as well a swirly tool mark on the barrel, may be visible. Sanding and polishing the frame removes tiny casting imperfections and rough areas, but with a rough finish, these unique marks are visible, giving each pistol its own unique “character.”

Grizzly Features:

  • Stainless steel double-barrel and frame
  • Compatible with all standard Bond Arms barrels
  • Patented rebounding hammer
  • Retracting firing pins
  • Cross-bolt safety
  • Spring-loaded, cammed locking lever
  • 3″ barrel
  • .45LC / .410 bore

NSSF Partners with Scholastic Shooting Sports Foundation

NSSF Partners with Scholastic Shooting Sports Foundation

From NSSF

NSSF, the firearm industry trade association, is pleased to announce that it has formed a partnership with the Scholastic Shooting Sports Foundation (SSSF) to promote NSSF’s First Shots® program and +ONESMMovement initiatives through SSSF’s family of teams and their home ranges.

SSSF is a 501(c)(3) public charity that oversees all activities of its two youth development programs, the Scholastic Clay Target Program (SCTP) and the Scholastic Action Shooting Program (SASP). SCTP focuses on fostering participation in the clay target sports, including skeet, trap, sporting clays and Olympic-style trap and skeet disciplines, whereas SASP supports participation in steel-target action handgun and rifle competitions. Both team-based programs welcome youths ranging from grade-school through college age, with students mentored and coached by trained volunteers.

NSSF’s +ONE Movement likewise has fostering participation in the shooting sports as its foundation. Launched in 2019, +ONE was created to inspire gun owners to introduce someone to target shooting or hunting. Mentors signing the +ONE Pledge take the time to show how safe and enjoyable the shooting sports are and are encouraged to extend invitations to those whose families don’t traditionally own firearms, target shoot or hunt. It is, at its heart, a “pay-it-forward” movement, one designed to welcome anyone who might have an interest in these pursuits but didn’t know where or to whom to turn to get involved.

“A partnership with SSSF is organic outreach at its best,” said Zach Snow, NSSF Director, Retail & Range Business Development. “Mentoring is not only what SSSF does best, it’s what its students do best. All of them are out there asking their schoolmates, Sunday school classmates and sports teammates to join them—and their parents are doing the same with neighbors, work colleagues and friends who have children. Our +ONE resources will only expand what this organization and its club members already do so well.”

Adding First Shots to the mix is a natural, Snow added. The newly introduced First Shots Clay Targetsprogram combined with the original First Shots programs for handguns and rifles will serve as a key community outreach and recruitment tool for SCTP/SASP teams along with their home ranges. Intended for people who have never handled a firearm before or who are just getting started, these events typically start in the classroom where firearm safety and functionality are covered. Participants then move to the range where, with personal instruction, they take their first successful shots and start their shooting sports journey.

“The kids and young adults participating in SCTP and SASP competitions are, of course, experienced with safe firearm handling and have advanced skill sets. But they didn’t start out that way. Each and every one of them had someone introduce them to the shooting sports,” said Snow.

“Because of those strong beginnings, they are passionate about competition and teamwork, so they also have a natural tendency to ask their peers to give it a try. Making our First Shots program and resources available to SCTP and SASP clubs adds an easy, safe and, most importantly, enjoyable method of entry for those who want to shoot alongside their friends. Used in conjunction with +ONE, we expect this to be a model for reducing barriers to entry and increasing participation in the shooting sports.”

“We at SSSF are in the perfect position to partner with the NSSF for the +ONE Movement,” said Ben Berka, SSSF President and Executive Director. “With thousands of adult volunteers and young SCTP & SASP athletes across the country, we believe our community can make a big difference in introducing shooting sports to those who may not have otherwise had the opportunity. The SCTP was started by NSSF, and its goal of growing the shooting sports continues to align perfectly with our program mission statements. We look forward to continually growing the shooting sports community with the help of +ONE and First Shots resources, focusing our efforts on the youth demographics that SSSF serves.”

NSSF is also offering a free National Shooting Month e-booklet. Grab your copy. The celebration begins in August.

CHAZ Don’t Surf

CHAZ Don’t Surf

An Executive Order issued by Seattle Mayor Jenny Durkan on July 1 declared the Capital Hill Protest Zone (CHAZ) an unlawful assembly and ordered the police department to disperse it immediately. The document also includes the fact that the rate of assaults, rapes, narcotics and gang activity skyrocketed by 525 percent during the CHAZ occupation compared to the same area one year ago.

Three shootings took place with first responders temporarily detained at the “border.” Some died. A few in mainstream media compared the illegal occupation to an “art festival complete with music and movies.” As this went to press requests for what was playing went unreturned, although if “Apocalypse Now” was screened Robert Duvall’s “Charlie don’t surf” line would ring particularly true. CHAZ residents barely had enough time to put up barricades, threaten innocent citizens, break windows, beat, assault, steal from and shoot the artists in residence, much less wax up their surfboards.

There was also an alarming rise in Covid-19 in the area, according to the Mayor’s statement. Fires and vehicles were also endangering a fresh water supply, affecting many more than those who live or work in the immediate area. Final estimates of damage to the park and city-maintained structures is estimated to be high, although final assessment won’t be available until inspection is complete.

“Ongoing violations of the Seattle Parks and Recreation’s Code of Conduct have been observed, including camping and parking in the park…dumping trash and/or creating unsanitary health conditions [caused by urination and defecation in places other than the park’s restroom] or health hazards that violate public health rules….and abusive or harassing behavior….” According to the executive order. It may be months, even years, before the park returns to conditions considered safe for public use.

The honorable Mayor’s list is long and available on Seattle’s official website.  It also includes a mention of threats to the facility that houses the city’s 911 nerve center, which could endanger citizens citywide should an attack stop or delay emergency response.
