.350 Legend Loads from Hornady

The .350 Legend is growing quickly in popularity and famed manufacturer Hornady has a pair of loads currently available. One is tailored for hunting under the company’s American Whitetail line and the other turns things up a notch in its renowned Custom category.

For hunters the company offers its American Whitetail cartridge with a 170-grain InterLock bullet. It leaves the muzzle at 2,200 fps and generates 1,827 ft.-lbs. of energy there.

With a 200-yard zero drop at 300 yards is 19.4 inches, where the bullet is traveling 1,271 fps carrying 609 ft.-lbs. of knockdown power. You can expect to hold under the target by 4.5 inches at 100 yards.

Here’s a look at the SAAMI specs for the .350 Legend and an FAQ on the cartridge, which was introduced in 2019.

Hornady has a new load in its Custom line with a 165-grain FTX bullet. It leaves the barrel at the same velocity, but thanks to the improved ballistic coefficient, drop at 300 yards (also with a 200-yard zero) is 17.6 inches. Energy at that distance is also improved, 689 ft.-lbs.

The lighter-weight bullet, however, leaves the muzzle with less energy. There is measures 1,773 ft.-lbs.

Hornady isn’t the only company producing the cartridge. Browning rolled out options at the 2020 SHOT Show as did Federal in its Fusion line.
