For anyone looking to get serious about rimfire competition shooting without the costs of a full-on custom rifle, a new day has dawned. CZ-USA has announced it is offering its match-grade MTR chamber and the extremely tight tolerances that come with it in one of the gunmaker’s most popular 22 LR bolt guns-the 457 VPT (Varmint Precision Trainer).

The MTR variant of the VPT allows shooters to buy an affordable, match-chambered rifle that’s ready to compete right out of the box. This eliminates the perceived need to upgrade any major components, putting this rifle a step above the competition.

Like CZ’s line of factory-tuned premium pistols, this MTR variant of the VPT features orange accents within its camo color scheme to be easily recognized on the gun rack and the firing line for the special rifle that it is.

New Guns & Gear for 2021—Franchi Momentum Rifle Chambered in .350 Legend

From Franchi

Franchi now offers a new color option to its line of Momentum rifle line and also addresses certain states’ hunting regulations requiring straight-walled centerfire cartridges with the addition of the Momentum chambered in .350 Legend. The latest offering joins three popular calibers in the Momentum line including 6.5 Creedmoor, .308 Win. and .300 Win. Mag.

The most visually distinct feature of the Momentum rifle is its revolutionary stock. The stock combines raised curves and crisp checkering at strategic places along the rifle, delivering the most ergonomic feel and positive hold in the five most commonly used shooting positions. Sling-attachment points are recessed on the Momentum’s stock, eliminating the need for intrusive swivel studs. At the butt, the Franchi’s popular TSA recoil pad absorbs 50 percent of the rifle’s felt recoil with integrated contours to offer more comfortable benchrest shooting positions.

Momentum’s barrel is a cold-hammer-forged chrome-molybdenum with a matte finish and free floated for enhanced accuracy. The ends of the threaded-barrel configurations (5/8 x 24 thread) are protected by a knurled cover that is easy to remove when utilizing barrel accessories or supressors. The Momentum features a two-position safety, which allows the bolt to be operated when the rifle has been made safe. Franchi’s proprietary RELIA Trigger delvers a crisp break and can be adjusted from 2 to 4 pounds.

The rifle’s RELIA Bolt features a one-piece, spiral-fluted bolt with three locking lugs for solid lockup to deliver increased accuracy. The bolt has a short, 60-degree throw for faster cycling and is easy to disassemble when cleaning. Offering 4+1 capacity (3+1 for .300 Win. Mag.), the Momentum sports a hinged floorplate magazine.

The Momentum rifle chambered in 6-5 Creedmoor, .308 Win. and .300 Win. Mag. are now available in Hunter Gray along with Flat Dark Earth. The new chambering in .350 Legend will be available in Flat Dark Earth only.

New Guns & Gear for 2021—Stoeger S8000-E Tac Suppressed Air Rifle

From Stoeger

Stoeger introduces the latest addition to its airgun line with the S8000-E Tac Suppressed Air Rifle. This new pellet gun offers enhanced ergonomics and features to deliver one of the finest and most accurate airguns in the market at a great value. Stoeger also offers a best-in-class 5-year warranty on all models.

At the heart of the S8000-E Tac is the Gas-Ram System for long-lasting reliability and ballistic precision. Tried and tested for toughness and durability, the Gas-Ram System eliminates vibrations while delivering consistent velocities due to its repeatable gas-pressure release. The Airflow Control (AFC) suppressor further mitigates vibration and eliminates the sound usually associated with traditional spring-driven airguns. This combines with the Dual-Stage Noise Reduction SystemTM to significantly reduce noise for quiet shooting.

The versatile tactical stock of the airgun allows for complete customization of fit with a variety of buttstock spacers for length-of-pull adjustments and the three-position cheek pad. The Multi-Grip System features different sized pistol and forend grips with a choice of finishes to fine-tune the air rifle’s ergonomic stock. Two picatinny rails situated on each side of the forend allow for mounting accessories such as a bi-pod, lights, lasers and sling studs.

The break-open barrel cocks the action and is unleashed with a two-stage, adjustable trigger to produce hard-hitting 1,200 fps (.117 cal.) and 1,000 fps (.22 cal.) muzzle velocities using alloy pellets. The new S8000-E Tac is available with a black, synthetic stock in either .177 cal, or .22 cal. Both caliber offerings come paired with a 3-9×40 mm adjustable objective scope and have a MSRP of $249.

For the beginning shooter, the backyard plinker or the seasoned small-game hunter, Stoeger’s new S8000-E Tac delivers advances in technology and ergonomic features that pack a powerful punch at an economic price.

New Guns & Gear for 2021—Uberti USA Adds .357 Magnum to ‘Dalton’ and ‘Frank’ Revolvers

From Uberti USA

The history of the Old West is rich with tales of nefarious outlaws and heroic lawmen and today Uberti USA pays homage to these legendary figures with the Outlaw & Lawmen Series. Uberti USA extends this popular Old West replica line with the introduction of the .357 Magnum versions of the Dalton and Frank revolvers, initially available in .45 Colt only. Each revolver draws inspiration from the actual gun carried by the famous figure after which it is named.

Now also available in .357 Magnum, the Uberti USA Dalton revolver is an exact replica of the Colt Single-Action Army revolver owned by one of the most fearsome members of the Dalton Gang. The infamous outlaws were among the last roaming marauders of the Old West before four of the five met their demise in a brazen daylight robbery in Coffeyville, Kansas. The townspeople armed themselves and cut the men down as they tried to escape.

The Dalton features hand-chased engraving from the famed Italian engraving studio Atelier Giovanelli on the receiver, grip-frame, cylinder and 5-1/2-inch barrel. Simulated pearl grips accentuate the color-cased frame to create a gorgeous revolver that shooters and collectors will surely covet.

Known for being a ruthless outlaw, Frank James lived a life of infamy before surrendering to the governor of Missouri in 1882. Uberti USA’s replica of the 1875 Remington revolver he surrendered demands attention with its 7.5-inch barrel, full nickel plating and simulated ivory grips with a lanyard loop. The newest offering of the Frank revolver chambered for the ubiquitous .357 Magnum joins the original revolver offered in .45 Colt.

New Guns & Gear for 2021—Hawke Optics Endurance ED Spotting Scope

From Hawke Optics

Hawke® Optics, the trusted leader in quality sporting optics that perform outstanding in the field and provide optimum value to the consumer, expands on the Endurance ED spotting scope line for 2021. The new full-size 20-60×68 model rounds out an impressive line of premium spotting scopes that deliver stunning clarity.

Why is ED glass important in a premium spotting scope? Extra-low dispersion (ED) glass controls chromatic aberration, or color fringing, and also reduces the distortion that typically comes when looking through any type of glass, especially over longer periods of time. Most of the time spent using a spotting scope is done so to examine an object, be it an animal, landscape or more, from a distance. This process can put a tremendous strain on your eye, resulting in a possible headache. It can greatly reduce the enjoyment of using a spotting scope. This is where the Hawke Endurance ED Spotting Scope comes in. You get amazing clarity and premium features in a scope that could cost much more but doesn’t.

New for 2021, Hawke has added the Endurance ED 20-60×68 Spotting Scope to an impressive lineup. Like all Endurance ED scopes, this new model is fully nitrogen purged, and is water and fog proof. These scopes have a BAK-4 Porro prism for intense color transfer and ultra-sharp contrast. Dielectric coating in the prism and lenses increase light reflectivity and further sharpen the images. A course/fine dual-focus knob allows you to fine-tune your viewing, so you can quickly survey an area, and adjust for finer detail. Whether you are field judging a bull elk as it moves across an opposing ridge, a trophy buck as it works the edge of a distant food plot, or a colorful bird as it interacts with its habitat, this scope is perfect for crisp views of the natural world.

The new 20-60×68 Endurance ED scope, with an MSRP of $699, has a field of view ranging from 108-60 feet at 1,000 yards. It fits right into the sweet spot between the 25-75×85 model and the compact 15-45×60 model in the Hawke lineup. All Endurance ED spotting scopes have a stay-on soft scope cover, and flip-up lens covers for quick deployment in the field while still providing protection. The angled eye-piece has a twist-up rubber eye piece and there is a pull-out sun shade. Each scope comes with a zoom eye-piece for quick adjustments, a lens cloth and, of course, the Hawke No-Fault Lifetime Warranty. Give yourself the eyes of a Hawke. Nature awaits!

From Dryshod

Dryshod, the new benchmark in performance waterproof footwear for outdoor recreation and work, has announced a style update for one of the company’s most popular women’s waterproof boots—the Legend MXT.

The Legend MXT was designed to provide women a multipurpose waterproof outdoor recreation and work boot able to conquer sloppy conditions with uncompromised function and comfort. For 2021, the Legend MXT receives an upgraded outsole to deliver even greater traction and grip when encountering wet, muddy, and slippery conditions. This enhanced outsole performance comes courtesy of the aggressive MXT tread pattern, with its well-defined tread lugs and high void areas to dig into the terrain, and the natural rubber construction that delivers a low friction coefficient to minimize slippage on harder surfaces.

The multi-season Legend MXT is 100-percent waterproof thanks to the 5mm Densoprene® foam insulated bootie and natural rubber overlays. To help keep the boots clean and to prevent water saturation in exceptionally wet conditions, the Densoprene® upper features a Hydrokote® water-repellent treatment to shed water and mud quickly and effectively. Inside, a 4-way stretch breathable airmesh lining promotes maximum airflow to prevent moisture buildup and to ensure feet stay dry and cooler in warm temperatures, warmer in cold temperatures.

Additional features of the Legend MXT for women include a roll-down calf pipe, prominent heel kick to assist in removal, and an “easy-on” back-pull tab.

The Legend MXT is offered in both a high- and a mid-cut style in women’s sizes 6-11. Legend MXT HI models are available in Black, Black/Pink, or Black/Purple while the Legend MXT Mid is offered in Black.
