Rost Martin Enters Gun Business with the RM1C

Rost Martin Enters Gun Business with the RM1C

Rost Martin—a new gun manufacturer based in Dallas, TX—began working on the design for its first firearm in 2020. Getting it right takes time, though, and it wasn’t until this week that the company unveiled its premier model, the Rost Martin RM1C.

The striker-fired, 9 mm NATO-chambered semi-automatic pistol features a 4-inch, hammer-forged barrel. Aggressive slide serrations up front and at the rear ensure positive manipulation while wearing gloves or with sweaty palms.

Features

Its magazine release is ambidextrous, and the trigger has a five-pound let-off weight with a clean break and a short reset. Non-glare top slide serrations combat eye fatigue and allow for quicker sight picture clarity.

RM1C’s low bore axis improves muzzle control and follow-up shot speed. The pistol wears a tough Tenifer treated slide that is corrosion resistant, and ultra-durable to fight wear and tear and the elements.

The pistol comes optic-ready with a metal RMR plate. It accepts all other popular optic footprints, and the additional metal plates for the most popular red dot sights will be available on the Rost Martin website. The Rost Martin RM1C also accepts all popular pistol lights on its full three-slot accessory rail.

The RM1C features the signature Rost Martin Responsive Grip Texturing, or RGT. The treatment is a proprietary graduated laser stippling designed to respond, or “grip back,” to pressure exerted by the shooter for a secure yet comfortable fit.

Lifetime Warranty

The RM1C is built for longstanding durability and reliability backed by the Rost Martin lifetime warranty. “Our preproduction stress test and validation included testing the limits of our pistol up to 50,000 rounds, submersion in sand, water, ice, mud, and extensive drop testing without failure,” said Rost Martin CEO Chris Toomer.

The handgun carries 15+1 with a flush mag or 17+1 with the extended mag. Colors available include black, stone and FDU. MSRP is $459 regardless of choice.

Ruger diamond anniversary limited-edition SR1911 pistols are something far above standard models, though. They feature a laser-engraved slide commemorating Ruger’s 75th anniversary and the company’s pride in American craftsmanship. Grip panels are customized with scrollwork to match the beautifully done slide. A specially marked 75th Anniversary lockable case ships with each gun, along with a pair of magazines—one with a 7-round capacity and another capable of holding 8 cartridges.

The pistol is stainless, features a titanium firing pin, extended magazine release, oversized beavertail grip safety, extended thumb safety and more. The frame-integral plunger tube for both the slide stop and thumb safety never shoots loose. It also has an aluminum skeletonized trigger with an adjustable over-travel stop and a skeletonized hammer.

With products made in America, Ruger offers consumers almost 800 variations of more than 40 product lines, across both the Ruger and Marlin brands. Ruger’s motto, “Arms Makers for Responsible Citizens,” echoes the company commitment to the principle.

New KelTec Sub2000 Gen3

New KelTec Sub2000 Gen3 with rotating stock seen deployed and folded for storage or travel.

A new generation of KelTec’s most popular carbine has hit the market, and it brings an all-new twist to the hot seller. The KelTec Sub2000 Gen3, currently only available in 9 mm NATO, features a patent-pending forend design that allows it to rotate. The company’s Jan. 1 press release explains, “Release the barrel assembly with a lever, twist the forend in either direction and snap it into place.”

The feature, which comes standard on every Sub2000 Gen3 the company ships, allows owners to rotate mounted accessories or optics out of the way for folding or storage. Deployment at the range, or when needed for home defense, is singlehanded fast and efficient. No tool is required.

Improved Trigger

Other upgrades to the KelTec Sub2000 Gen3 include a redesigned trigger mechanism manufactured from aluminum. The result is a lighter let-off weight, crisp response and improved feedback. The company announcement said the trigger pull is now five pounds.
