MidwayUSA Foundation Sees Record Breaking Giving Tuesday

MidwayUSA Foundation Sees Record Breaking Giving Tuesday

From MidwayUSA Foundation

Giving Tuesday, a global day of giving held on December 1 this year, generated nearly $250,000 for MidwayUSA Foundation. These donations, generated on just one day, directly benefit over 250 youth shooting program endowments held at MidwayUSA Foundation. Larry and Brenda Potterfield, owners of MidwayUSA, generously donated $175,000 to match the day’s donations, resulting in a $.070 match on every dollar.

G. Scott Reynolds, MidwayUSA Foundation Executive Director, talked about the big day for youth shooting sports. “The generosity shown on Giving Tuesday will provide opportunities for more of our youth to compete in youth shooting sports. This is a victory for the entire outdoor industry.” Between the generous contributions and the donation match, Giving Tuesday generated over $400,000 for youth shooting sports.

New in 2020 were additional endowment funds for participating shooting teams. The top five teams receiving the most online donation dollars were awarded $5,000, $4,000, $3,000, $2,000 and $1,000, respectively. Another ten youth shooting teams that received an online donation on Giving Tuesday were drawn at random to receive $500 each. Top performing teams included:

1st Place: United States Military Academy – Shotgun Program [NY]
2nd Place: The X Count [IN]
3rd Place: Lawrence County Young Guns [PA]
4th Place: Massachusetts Shooters Foundation Junior Programs [MA]
5th Place: Centralia Rifle Club and Junior Division [WA]

This is the most successful Giving Tuesday for the Foundation, beating 2019’s donation total by over $70,000! “In such a trying year when these shooting teams had so many obstacles keeping them from gathering and competing, I am even more impressed in the Giving Tuesday success. It is clear that these shooting teams and their supporters are truly invested in the future of their sport,” continued G. Scott Reynolds. Every dollar will grow the annual cash grant these teams and organizations are eligible to receive. The funds are critical, assisting with purchases like ammunition, entry fees, targets, uniforms, and more.

MidwayUSA Foundation continues to offer a match on every donation to youth shooting teams for the remainder of 2020. Throughout December there is $150,000 available in matching funds and the ratio of the match will depend on the total contribution dollars for the month. Donors can give directly to the team of their choice through the Foundation website (midwayusafoundation.org/donate) from anywhere in the country. Over 2,800 youth shooting teams have their own earmarked MidwayUSA Foundation Team Endowment that can receive donations. Donors will receive a tax receipt and 100% of the donation benefits the team of their choice, the Foundation keeps nothing for operational expenses.

The MidwayUSA Foundation is a 501(c)(3) public charity working to sustain and grow the shooting sports industry by providing long-term funding to youth shooting teams. Every donation made is tax-deductible and allows the Foundation to assist in expanding and enhancing the leadership skills, confidence, and discipline of today’s youth through shooting sports activities. The Foundation supports all shooting disciplines. For more information about how the MidwayUSA Foundation is changing the future of youth shooting sports, please visit MidwayUSAFoundation.org.

Walther PP from DOCTOR NO Auctioned for $256K

Walther PP from DOCTOR NO Auctioned for $256K

From Walther

The Walther PP, used by Sean Connery in his first Bond movie, Dr. No, was recently auctioned by Julien’s Auctions in Beverly Hills for over a quarter of a million dollars.

In the film, “M” (Bernard Lee) introduced the gun as Walther PPK. Still, in reality, Connery was carrying the Walther PP, which became the standard equipment of many Bond heroes.

In 1929 Carl Walther introduced the Walther PP – Police Pistol – to the public. Walther mainly manufactured the PP in caliber 7.65MM (.32 ACP). It was far ahead of its time in terms of design and ergonomics and thus the first world success of its creator Fritz Walther.

Approximately one million Walther PPs have been produced since its introduction.

However, even more, cult status than the Walther PP achieved the Walther PPK – Polizeipistole Kriminal, which Walther introduced in 1931. Over 500,000 pieces were manufactured since then.

The PPK is considered to be “the” style icon of German pistol manufacture. This pistol started what is referred to as concealed carry today.

Because of her unique silhouette and rounded-off design, the pistol is still considered the most beautiful pistol ever built. Therefore, the demand for the Walther PPK is unbroken, and it is sold in considerable numbers foremost in the USA.

The PPK is a must-have for every serious collector.

From Hawke Optics

Hawke® Optics, a world leader in high performance sporting optics that deliver in the field at an amazing value to consumers, adds to the Sidewinder riflescope line with new models aimed at the long-range shooter.

The new MOA/MOA Sidewinder models, like all the models in the line, have a 30mm main tube and are loaded with new H5 optics that has shooters amazed at the clarity and accuracy of this value-packed scope. H5 brings an ultra-wide 24-degree field of view. The low-dispersion Crown glass has 18-layer multi-coated optics for superb light transmission and clarity. Each Sidewinder has a full four inches of eye relief, letting you get on target faster and easier than ever before.

The Sidewinder FFP MOA models have resettable, precision locking turrets with 1»4 MOA clicks that now have a Witness Window that provides instant visual confirmation of your turret position. You can sharpen up your sights with the index-matched, removeable side wheel focus adjustment and keep your eye on the target while adjusting the zoom with the removeable, magnification throw lever. The reticle is illuminated with high-intensity, adjustable Multi-LED lighting for accuracy in every lighting condition. Tune things in with the fast focus eye bell that has a lock ring to ensure things stay just as you like them.

Newly added to the Sidewinder line are two First Focal Plane models, the 4–16×50 SF and the 6–24×56 SF. Both of these models use the new FFP MOA reticle. The FFP MOA reticle is specifically designed for first focal plane optics with MOA spaced aiming points. The reticle is designed to give closer aiming points than the FFP Half Mil reticle available on existing models. The MOA reticle has crosses etched on the lower half that work as windage aiming points. They can be used for the counting method of zeroing in on target, with each cross positioned 4 MOA apart. On the outside of the reticle, non-illuminated posts with MOA spacing can be used for extreme holdover and for bracketing for distance calculations. These new scopes further bolster the Sidewinder line as the best value in long-range shooting.

All of the Sidewinder models are shock proof, waterproof and dust proof, and are fully nitrogen purged. Additionally, all Sidewinder models are all-caliber rated, so they can withstand the harshest recoil. They come with a removeable side wheel, sunshade, elasticated lens covers, and zoom lever for quick adjustments. All of Hawke’s optics are backed by the Hawke No-Fault Lifetime Warranty.
