Military Armament Corporation

Founded in 1970, the Military Armament Corporation’s MAC-10 and MAC-11 semi-automatic pistols quickly became Hollywood favorites. To this day they continue to make regular appearances in action movies.

Gordon Ingram designed both fully automatic pistols in 1964 and 1965, a fact that explains why some enthusiasts respectfully call them the Ingram MAC-10 and Ingram MAC-11. The former could be chambered in .45 ACP and 9 mm NATO. The latter, which was smaller, handled 9 mm NATO and .380 ACP.

Originally it was hoped the handguns would become the standard-issue sidearm for the U.S. military. That never happened and the company dissolved in bankruptcy in 1973. The blowback pistol designs, however, lived on with several companies producing them afterward.

A new Military Armament Corporation is back as a division of SDS imports, which was founded in 2017. The company is based in Knoxville, TN.
