With more than 23,000 wildfires having burned already this year—an increase of 20 percent over last year—NSSF reminds shooters and hunters to take precautions so they don’t accidentally ignite a wildfire.

Although fires that usually make headlines are those that scorch the arid West, all parts of the country can have destructive wildfires. The majority of wildfires are human-caused, and that means fires can be prevented by following safe practices. NSSF’s “Help Prevent Wildfires” campaign provides video and audio public service announcements and an updated infographic that urges recreational shooters and other outdoor enthusiasts to be mindful of their surroundings and how to take precautions.

Precautions include:

  • Being aware of restrictions on shooting and other activities in fire-prone areas.
  • Not using tracer rounds, exploding targets or ammunition that is steel-jacketed or contains steel-core components.
  • Knowing that a vehicle’s hot exhaust systems can ignite dry vegetation.
  • Making sure all campfires and smoking materials are properly extinguished.

“As gun owners, we care about safeguarding our communities and our natural resources. With the fire season upon us, we encourage everyone to do their part to not be the cause of a wildfire. Check the fire-danger levels in your area and take precautions before heading outdoors to target shoot, hunt or pursue other outdoor activities,” said Joe Bartozzi, NSSF President and CEO.

The continued sponsorship enhances previous partnerships between the two organizations and advances their shared goal of promoting safe firearm handling and responsible storage.

NSSF launched Project ChildSafe in 1999 as a nationwide initiative to promote firearm responsibility and provide safety education to all gun owners. The Springfield Armory Hellcat has taken the concealed carry market by storm since its introduction in late 2019. In addition to having all the features users want, the micro 9 mm pistol also proved its mettle in a 10,000 round test that same year, with every round fired documented on video. Now, that very same 10K Hellcat pistol has just topped 20K rounds in a follow-up test by Paul Carlson, owner of Safety Solutions Academy. And once again, the test documented every round fired.

With support from Federal Ammunition and Action Target, Carlson—a respected self-defense and personal-protection trainer—along with a team of shooters pushed the 10K round Hellcat (serial # AT234795) all the way through to 20K rounds. Overview of Benefits

Tritium Rear vs. Non-Tritium rear:

The DXT2 Night Sightshave tritium in the rear, which provides the brightest indexing point for sight alignment in low light. The DXW2 Night Sights have a white-stripe rear, which reflects light to offer an excellent, bright-light sight picture and provides more affordability for the set.

Color Options:

The Big Dot variants are offered in Optic Yellow or Optic Orange while the Standard Dots come in green. All front sights feature tritium surrounded by XS’s photoluminescent Glow Dot technology.

Optic Yellow:

Optic Yellow is the best option for low light and has the brightest glow intensity. Primarily based on the white light spectrum, Optic Yellow is very reflective and will excite the dot’s photoluminescent properties faster than any other color. The increased surface area of the convex dot increases light absorption, intensifying the charge of the dot’s glow properties, making this a great low-light choice.

Optic Orange:

Optic Orange is based primarily on yellow with a hint of red to ensure visibility in low light when uncharged. The increased surface area of the convex dot increases light absorption, intensifying the charge of the glow properties of the dot. Orange is the preferred bright-light choice of many XS customers.

Green:

Green is our bridge color for the Standard Dot sights. It glows well in low light and offers vibrant, bright-light sight indexing. This color performs well on the smaller-sized Standard Dot and still manages to focus the shooter’s attention, in any light.

While there are scientific reasons these specific colors excel in certain light, many times, the choice comes down to personal preference and which color an individual’s eye sees best.

Big Dot:

Sized at .188″ and positioned for defensive shooters, our Big Dot front sights are an excellent option for EDC guns or shooters who have vision difficulty and struggle to see their sights. The Big Dot’s provide a distinctive front that offers a great glow and the biggest front sight on the market.

Standard Dot:

Sized at .144″ and positioned for target shooters, our Standard Dot front sights are an excellent option for target guns or shooters looking for a smaller front sight option.

Suppressor Height Sights:
