Gunwerks adds Brian Poor and Ian Miner to Training Team

Gunwerks is pleased to announce the hiring of Brian Poor and Ian Miner as instructors at the Long Range University.

Poor comes to Gunwerks with over 31 years of experience in the Military and Law Enforcement Sniper communities. He recently retired as a Police Sergeant in the Los Angeles County area where he served for 25 years. Prior to that he was a Marine Scout Sniper and taught at the Marine Corps Scout Sniper School at Camp Pendleton, California.

He has been passionate about hunting and the outdoors his entire life. His Law Enforcement Training background gives him a unique understanding on how to design training to be enjoyable, yet prepare the student to function at a higher level during stressful and exciting situations.

Miner comes to Gunwerks with over seven years of long range shooting experience serving as a Scout Sniper in the Marine Corps and as shooting instructor at Rev-Tac’s Shooting Complex in Jackson, Nebraska.

He has a Bachelor’s degree in Recreation Management from University of Nebraska at Kearney and is wrapping up a Master’s degree in Coaching from United States Sports Academy in Alabama.

In addition to providing professional long range shooting instruction, Poor and Miner will be sharing their knowledge with in-depth blog articles and instructional videos through Gunwerks.

The Alpha Waterfowl Blind is built on a rugged, square-tube aluminum frame that is powder-coated for durability and long life. Hinged and shock-corded joints make setup quick and uncomplicated in the field. Full-entry side doors facilitate ingress/egress when wearing bulky outerwear and for moving gear into and out of the blind. It also makes for a great handicap accessible option. Multi-angle shooting door adjustment lets hunters customize the doors to meet changing conditions and hunter comfort. The blind skin is constructed of tough 600D polyester with three mesh windows per shooting door. Inside, the Alpha Waterfowl Blind panels feature mesh pockets for extra gear storage and interior webbing to hang calls and game straps. For anyone looking to get serious about rimfire competition shooting without the costs of a full-on custom rifle, a new day has dawned. CZ-USA has announced it is offering its match-grade MTR chamber and the extremely tight tolerances that come with it in one of the gunmaker’s most popular 22 LR bolt guns-the 457 VPT (Varmint Precision Trainer).

The MTR chamber has already proven itself in its namesake, CZ 457 Varmint MTR rifle, and has garnered an excellent reputation for accuracy.

The MTR variant of the VPT allows shooters to buy an affordable, match-chambered rifle that’s ready to compete right out of the box. This eliminates the perceived need to upgrade any major components, putting this rifle a step above the competition.

The 457 VPT MTR comes with a cold hammer-forged and lapped 16.2-inch barrel with 1/2×28 threads at the muzzle for a suppressor or muzzle device, and the action is mounted in a Manners carbon fiber stock. Franchi now offers a new color option to its line of Momentum rifle line and also addresses certain states’ hunting regulations requiring straight-walled centerfire cartridges with the addition of the Momentum chambered in .350 Legend. The latest offering joins three popular calibers in the Momentum line including 6.5 Creedmoor, .308 Win. and .300 Win. Mag.

The most visually distinct feature of the Momentum rifle is its revolutionary stock. The stock combines raised curves and crisp checkering at strategic places along the rifle, delivering the most ergonomic feel and positive hold in the five most commonly used shooting positions. Sling-attachment points are recessed on the Momentum’s stock, eliminating the need for intrusive swivel studs. At the butt, the Franchi’s popular TSA recoil pad absorbs 50 percent of the rifle’s felt recoil with integrated contours to offer more comfortable benchrest shooting positions.

Momentum’s barrel is a cold-hammer-forged chrome-molybdenum with a matte finish and free floated for enhanced accuracy. The ends of the threaded-barrel configurations (5/8 x 24 thread) are protected by a knurled cover that is easy to remove when utilizing barrel accessories or supressors. The Momentum features a two-position safety, which allows the bolt to be operated when the rifle has been made safe. Franchi’s proprietary RELIA Trigger delvers a crisp break and can be adjusted from 2 to 4 pounds.

The rifle’s RELIA Bolt features a one-piece, spiral-fluted bolt with three locking lugs for solid lockup to deliver increased accuracy. The bolt has a short, 60-degree throw for faster cycling and is easy to disassemble when cleaning. Offering 4+1 capacity (3+1 for .300 Win. Mag.), the Momentum sports a hinged floorplate magazine.

The Momentum rifle chambered in 6-5 Creedmoor, .308 Win. and .300 Win. Mag. are now available in Hunter Gray along with Flat Dark Earth. The new chambering in .350 Legend will be available in Flat Dark Earth only.
