New Guns & Gear for 2021—ACE Riv by GiantMouse Knives

New Guns & Gear for 2021—ACE Riv by GiantMouse Knives

From GiantMouse Knives

Good things really do come in small packages. GiantMouse Knives released the Riv this week, a compact folder in the company’s ACE line of folding knives. The Riv was designed in the lines of the Biblio but is a completely new design with its own feel and expression.

Why a compact knife? The knife’s designers, Jens Ansø and Jesper Voxnaes, grew up out in nature working the forest and doing chores around the house. They were taught to carry a fixed blade and a small folder. The fixed blade will perform most of the cutting tasks, but the folder should be kept razor sharp for finer tasks and be your back-up, if the fixed blade is lost or dulls. The Riv fills that role perfectly.

Here’s my complete list of the best new guns and gear for 2021.

The Riv is available in Titanium, Brass, and Green Canvas Micarta. While the green canvas Micarta version will be sold through dealers, the brass and full Ti versions are GiantMouse exclusives, and will only be available on the GiantMouse website. All feature Elmax blade steel, ball bearing pivot, and titanium frame lock.

The blades are 2.44″ (62mm) in length, measured from tip to forward-most aspect of the frame, and are 0.118″ (3mm) thick. The handles are 3.375″ (85.73mm) long. Giving the Riv an overall length of 5.75″ (146mm).

Ruger to Expand Factory in North Carolina

From the North Carolina Governor’s Office

Sturm, Ruger & Company, Inc., a leading U.S. designer and manufacturer of commercial and sporting firearms, will grow its North Carolina workforce with an expansion at its Rockingham County production facility, Governor Roy Cooper announced today. The company’s goal is to add roughly 60 jobs and invest approximately $10 million at its site in Mayodan over the next three years.

“North Carolina’s skilled workforce continues to make our state a smart choice for growing manufacturers,” Governor Cooper said. “Today’s expansion by Sturm, Ruger & Co. highlights our state’s commitment to growing with companies and is a strong investment in the future of Rockingham County.”

Founded in 1949, Connecticut-based Sturm, Ruger [NYSE: RGR] is one of the nation’s largest manufacturers of firearms. Its award-winning products are bought by hunters, collectors and hobbyists, as well as law enforcement organizations, security firms and government agencies. Sturm, Ruger established its $26 million production facility in Mayodan in 2013, and its workforce there currently totals 490. It also has plants in New Hampshire and Arizona.

“We are thrilled to achieve so many goals with this project,” said Mickey Wilson, Sturm, Ruger’s vice president of Mayodan operations. “This expansion will help us to grow our business and further expand our diverse lineup of rugged, reliable firearms, while at the same time expanding our presence in Rockingham County.”

The North Carolina Department of Commerce led a team of partners in supporting Sturm, Ruger’s decision to expand its North Carolina operations. The company had considered other U.S. business destinations. Salaries for the new jobs are expected to average $44,033 per year, creating an annual payroll impact for the region of more than $2 million per year. Rockingham County’s overall annual wages average $35,146. Sturm, Ruger’s new positions will include production associates and supervisors.

“Expansions by existing companies are compelling evidence that North Carolina’s economic assets and business climate remain competitive with other leading destinations,” said N.C. Commerce Secretary Anthony M. Copeland. “I congratulate Sturm, Ruger for its impressive growth and also commend the state and local partners and allies that have supported the company’s success in Rockingham County.”

A performance-based grant of $150,000 from the One North Carolina Fund will help facilitate Sturm, Ruger’s North Carolina expansion. The One NC Fund provides financial assistance to local governments to help attract economic investment and create jobs. Companies receive no money upfront and must meet job creation and capital investment targets to qualify for payment. All One NC grants require a matching grant from local governments, and any award is contingent upon that condition being met.

Joining the North Carolina Department of Commerce and the Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina in the collaborative effort to support this project were the North Carolina General Assembly, the North Carolina Community College System, Rockingham County, the Town of Mayodan, and the Rockingham County Center for Economic Development, Small Business & Tourism.

New Guns & Gear for 2021—TrueTimber Prairie Camo Featured on Savage Renegauge Shotgun

New Guns & Gear for 2021—TrueTimber Prairie Camo Featured on Savage Renegauge Shotgun

From TrueTimber

The Savage Renegauge semi-automatic shotgun is now available in TrueTimber Prairie camo. The Renegauge debuted as the first semi-automatic shotgun offered by Savage earlier this year and has found success across the board with shotgun enthusiasts. The Savage Renegauge Prairie model features Prairie camo on the stock and forend paired with a Cerakote finish on the action and barrel.

Here’s my complete list of the best new guns and gear for 2021.

“We are really excited to partner with Savage on the Renegauge and we think this gun has a bright future for shotgunners of all kinds,” said TrueTimber CEO Rusty Sellars. “We have had a lot of success working with Savage in the past to decorate guns like the 110 High Country in TrueTimber camo, which continues to prove itself in the long-range hunting arena year after year. It is awesome to see Savage dive into the semi-automatic shotgun market with such a well-rounded gun and we are extremely excited to see it available in TrueTimber Prairie camo.”

Savage Renegauge Prairie

The American made Savage Renegauge will change the way you think about semi-automatic shotguns. The Renegauge can handle the hottest high-brass and the mildest low-recoil shells with the same dependability. The patented D.R.I.V. (Dual Regulating Inline Valve) gas system ensures excess gas vents before it drives the bolt, resulting in consistent ejection, less felt recoil and a lighting fast cyclic rate for dependably fast split times. The Renegauge has been designed to fit almost any shooter. Everything from length-of-pull to comb height and drop at the heel can be adjusted to fit. These features combined with a Cerakote® action and TrueTimber Prairie camo stock and forend complete a perfect combination for winged shooting. MSRP $1,549.

TrueTimber Prairie incorporates both macro and micro camo schematics. The macro design breaks up the human outline at all distances while the micro design melts into any terrain at close range. Originally designed as an abstract waterfowl pattern, Prairie has quickly gained traction outside the wetlands, blinds, marshes and sloughs. Prairie can easily transition from open flatlands to the turkey woods to open desert terrain and from the tree stand to the duck blind without missing a beat.

New Guns & Gear for 2021—Zeta6 EDC Offset Speedstrip for 5-Shot J-Frame Revolvers

New Guns & Gear for 2021—Zeta6 EDC Offset Speedstrip for 5-Shot J-Frame Revolvers

From Zeta Industries

Zeta Industries is please to introduce the Zeta6™ J-PAK™, an offset speedstrip that loads 3 and 2 in 5-shot J-frame revolvers chambered in 38SP/357. Traditional speedstrips load a 5-shot revolver in a 2-2-1 sequence. With J-PAK™, the familiar speedstrip design has been offset slightly to load in a 3-2 sequence, loading three rounds in the first motion. Its narrow profile makes it great for concealed pocket carry. The thin, flexible material allows the cartridges to flex and conform when in a pocket yet align the rounds perfectly when reloading a revolver. And like the K-PAK™, two J-PAKs can be nested together to carry ten rounds in a little more space than only five. This is the fourth speedloader product in the Zeta6 brand for 5-shot J-frames. www.zetasix.com

Here’s my complete list of the best new guns and gear for 2021.

“Our goal was to design a narrow, EDC/pants-pocket speedloader that offered advantages over conventional speedstrips, and could still be carried discreetly.”, says designer Michael Lyle. “The commercial success of our first offset strip, K-PAK™, resulted in substantial customer feedback asking for a J-frame version. During the design process, we learned that by adding an extra sixth socket we could make the product ambidextrous.”, continues Michael Lyle. “Depending on which of the two middle sockets are left empty, the user can configure J-PAK for either left- or right-hand use. And the empty middle socket creates a finger gap that can be used for added stability.”

The Zeta6™ J-PAK™ works perfectly with all 5-shot J-frame size revolvers chambered in 38 Special and 357 Magnum.

J-PAK™ is sold in 2-pack packaging and retails for $11.95. J-PAK™ is available now on the zetasix.com website.

American Outdoor Brands Releases Q2 2021 Fiscal Results

From American Outdoor Brands

American Outdoor Brands, Inc. (NASDAQ Global Select: AOUT), an industry leading provider of products and accessories for rugged outdoor enthusiasts, today announced financial results for the second quarter fiscal 2021, ended October 31, 2020.

Second Quarter Fiscal 2021 Financial Highlights

• Quarterly net sales were $79.1 million, an increase of $31.4 million, or 65.7%, over net sales of $47.7 million for the comparable quarter last year, driven primarily by increases in both e-commerce and traditional sales channels.

• Quarterly gross margin was 46.9%, an increase of 690 basis points, over gross margin of 40.0% for the comparable quarter last year.

• Quarterly net income was $7.3 million, or $0.52 per diluted share, compared with a net loss of $393,000, or ($0.03) per diluted share, for the comparable quarter last year.

• Quarterly non-GAAP net income was $11.0 million, or $0.77 per diluted share, compared with a non-GAAP net income of $2.8 million, or $0.20 per diluted share, for the comparable quarter last year. GAAP to non-GAAP adjustments for net income exclude costs related to acquired intangible amortization, stock compensation, transition costs, COVID-19 expenses, and other costs.

• Quarterly Adjusted EBITDAS was $15.8 million, or 19.9% of net sales, compared with $5.6 million, or 11.7% of net sales, for the comparable quarter last year.

Brian Murphy, President and CEO, said, “We believe our second quarter financial performance demonstrates the diversity and innovation of our brand portfolio as it continues to capture the attention of consumers. As a result, we delivered net sales growth of over 65%, and gross margins expanded by 690 basis points to nearly 47% in the quarter. We believe we’re witnessing a new foundational level of consumer participation in outdoor activities, an interest towards personal protection, and an interest in adjacent home-based hobbies that surround outdoor adventure, creating meaningful, long-term growth potential for our business well beyond 2020. Continued entry into new, larger addressable markets through our ‘Dock & UnlockTM’ strategy has begun to bear fruit as our brands progress along their transition from ‘Niche to KnownTM’.”

Murphy added, “I want to especially thank our employees, who helped us deliver what we consider to be outstanding results this quarter while positioning us for a tremendous first year as a public company. Their efforts, combined with our award-winning products, made it possible for customers to continue exploring their connection with the outdoors during these challenging times.”

Andrew Fulmer, Chief Financial Officer, said, “We ended the quarter with cash of $33.9 million and no borrowings on our $50.0 million senior secured credit facility, which is expandable by an additional $15.0 million under certain conditions. This means that we now have up to nearly $100.0 million in available capital to support organic growth and potential future acquisitions. We believe our Adjusted EBITDAS margin of nearly 20% in the quarter demonstrates that we have designed and built a highly leverage-able platform, made possible by earlier investments in our e-commerce and logistics capabilities. These capabilities, combined with customer order activity, which remained strong in the quarter, have allowed us to increase our outlook for the balance of fiscal 2021.
