Ruger Diamond Anniversary Limited-Edition SR1911 Pistol

Ruger Diamond Anniversary Limited-Edition SR1911 Pistol

Ruger is celebrating its 75th year anniversary this year and releasing special editions of some of its most popular firearms. The Ruger diamond anniversary limited-edition SR1911 pistol is one of the first to appear, and a striking example of the art we can expect to see throughout 2024.

Collectors and fans of the legendary gun maker need to move fast, though. Only 750 Ruger diamond anniversary limited-edition SR1911 pistols will be produced during 2024. Each will be identifiable by a special “R75” serial number prefix and MSRP is $1,799. Visit an FFL nearby to reserve one while they are still available.

The stainless Ruger SR1911, which was introduced in 2011 in honor of the 100th anniversary of the Government Model 1911, has earned numerous awards since it became available. They are completely made in America.

Ruger diamond anniversary limited-edition SR1911 pistols are something far above standard models, though. They feature a laser-engraved slide commemorating Ruger’s 75th anniversary and the company’s pride in American craftsmanship. Grip panels are customized with scrollwork to match the beautifully done slide. A specially marked 75th Anniversary lockable case ships with each gun, along with a pair of magazines—one with a 7-round capacity and another capable of holding 8 cartridges.

The pistol is stainless, features a titanium firing pin, extended magazine release, oversized beavertail grip safety, extended thumb safety and more. The frame-integral plunger tube for both the slide stop and thumb safety never shoots loose. It also has an aluminum skeletonized trigger with an adjustable over-travel stop and a skeletonized hammer.

With products made in America, Ruger offers consumers almost 800 variations of more than 40 product lines, across both the Ruger and Marlin brands. Ruger’s motto, “Arms Makers for Responsible Citizens,” echoes the company commitment to the principle.

Mossberg 940 Pro Turkey Holosun Micro Dot Combo

Mossberg has introduced new Mossberg 940Pro Turkey Holosun Micro Dot Combo for 2024 that’s ideal for turkey hunters. It features the company’s popular 18 1/2-inch 940 Pro Turkey Optic Ready shotgun, paired with a pre-mounted Holosun HS407K micro-dot sight. The pair create a system ideal for those in pursuit of big toms with full camouflage coverage and more.

The gas-operated, semi-auto 940 Pro churns flawlessly through up to 1,500 rounds without cleaning and chambers 2 3/4- or 3-inch 12-gauge shotshells with payloads of 1 1/8 ounces or more. Generous application of nickel-boron coating on internal parts ensure reliable performance for years and minimizes corrosion.

The beveled, oversized loading port and redesigned elevator ensure reloads are pinch-free and effortless. Length of pull can be adjusted by the user from anywhere between 13 to 14 1/4 inches and the slim-profile forend makes it comfortable to shoulder. The paddle-style bolt release and oversized charging handle ensure ease of use, even when wearing gloves.

A factory-mounted Holosun HS407K micro-dot sight comes on the shotgun. The reflex sight features a 6-MOA dot reticle; unlimited eye relief, shake-awake feature and a dozen brightness settings. Owners can expect battery life to be 50,000 hours and the sight wears an olive-drab finish.

Mossy Oak Greenleaf camouflage is worn by this Mossberg 940 Pro Turkey shotgun—a unique blend of dirt, bark, moss and oak sapling to enhance concealment.

This 12-gauge has an 18 1/2–inch vent rib barrel with a HIVIZ CompSight front fiber optic up front. The gun ships with a ported X-Factor XX-Full choke tube and the Holosun HS407K micro-dot sight. Sling swivel studs and top-mounted safety—for ease of use by right or left-handed shooters—round out the combo. Weight is roughly 7 1/4 pounds and overall length is 39 1/4 inches. MSRP is $1,406.

Also new from Mossberg for 2024 are upgraded 940 Pro Waterfowl shotguns.

New KelTec Sub2000 Gen3

New KelTec Sub2000 Gen3 with rotating stock seen deployed and folded for storage or travel.

A new generation of KelTec’s most popular carbine has hit the market, and it brings an all-new twist to the hot seller. The KelTec Sub2000 Gen3, currently only available in 9 mm NATO, features a patent-pending forend design that allows it to rotate. The company’s Jan. 1 press release explains, “Release the barrel assembly with a lever, twist the forend in either direction and snap it into place.”

The feature, which comes standard on every Sub2000 Gen3 the company ships, allows owners to rotate mounted accessories or optics out of the way for folding or storage. Deployment at the range, or when needed for home defense, is singlehanded fast and efficient. No tool is required.

Improved Trigger

Other upgrades to the KelTec Sub2000 Gen3 include a redesigned trigger mechanism manufactured from aluminum. The result is a lighter let-off weight, crisp response and improved feedback. The company announcement said the trigger pull is now five pounds.

The operating handle was also improved for comfort and the ability to lock the bolt open with either hand. A peephole has been added above the chamber, which allows owners to see the brass if any cartridge remains in the firing position.

The gun uses Glock G17 or G19 magazines. MSRP for the KelTec Sub2000 Gen3 comes in at $499. There was no word when or if a .40 S&W-chambered variant will be introduced.

Big Savings on Gen2

While the new models are shipping to FFLs, enthusiasts have a chance to save $100 on any remaining Gen2 versions they find in stock. KelTec is offering a rebate on factory fresh models purchased by March 1, 2024.
