Bone Conduction Hearing Technology:
In the early 1800s, composer Ludwig van Beethoven’s research into how to deal with his worsening deafness, led him to position one end of a metal rod onto the soundboard of his piano, and insert the other end into his mouth. The vibrations from the piano were “conducted” by his jawbone, and ultimately interpreted by the brain as music.
Relacing metal rods, vibrations from the Zbones’ speakers are conducted through the cheekbones, and on to the brain for interpretation of the sound vibrations. In effect, the cheekbones become a second set of eardrums while leaving the normal hearing process safe and intact.
