New Guns & Gear for 2021—KelTec P50

Posted on January 21, 2021January 21, 2021 by Guy J. Sagi

From KelTec

KelTec® celebrates its 30th Anniversary of game-changing firearms innovation in 2021 and to mark the occasion, they’re introducing the P50™, a pistol like no other.

This new semi-automatic pistol features a top-mounted, double-stack magazine that allows a 50+1 capacity of 5.7 x 28mm ammunition, creating a whole new class of pistol. It also features an ambidextrous safety, and a picatinny-style rail for mounting sights, an optic or your choice of accessories.

“It’s only fitting,” said Derek Kellgren, Director of Sales, “that we kick off our 30th Anniversary with the introduction of a firearm that may well be our most innovative yet.”

What immediately catches the eye are the 50 rounds of 5.7 ammo stacked horizontally inside the translucent body of the magazine which stretches the length of the firearm. Sandwiching the magazine in place is the upper and lower assembly. The upper assembly, which is the receiver, houses the barrel and bolt assemblies and rotates open on a hinge like the hood of a car. It’s this action that frees the magazine.

The grip, which comprises the lower assembly, houses the trigger mechanism and release lever. The latter of which locks the upper to the lower assembly and is manipulated by the user’s thumb. “The total weight,” added Director of Industrial Production, Adrian Kellgren, “is 3.2 pounds, which is very light for its capacity. This not only contributes to control, but makes carrying the P50 easy, whether slung over the shoulder or in a bag.
