Guns Vanish from Remington.com

Guns Vanish from Remington.com

Owners of relatively new Remington brand firearms will no longer find the photos, tips, information and specifications for their guns on Remington.com. Vista Outdoor purchased the ammunition brands during the Remington Outdoor Company bankruptcy proceedings and the website is now exclusively dedicated to the cartridges, shotshells and components it now owns. The products, however, are still being produced out of the same Lonoke, AR, plant as they were under previous management.

Remington, which was part of Remington Outdoor Company along with DPMS, Bushmaster, Barnes Bullets, Marlin and other legends, was America’s oldest gunmaker. Roundhill Group has purchased what remained of the famed manufacturer and is working to re-open the legendary factory in Ilion, NY, seen above nearly 100 years ago.

Shooting Looters Would be Allowed with Proposed Florida Law

Shooting Looters Would be Allowed with Proposed Florida Law

Legislation drafted by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis would expand the state’s “Stand Your Ground” law by including a tightly worded definition for looting in its list of forcible felonies, according to a report from the Miami Herald. A burglary within 500 feet of an interruption or impairment of business is the language the reporter allegedly read prior to its release.

Criminal penalties would also increase for those convicted of violence during a disorderly assembly. Blocking traffic during a protest would become a third-degree felony.

Civil unrest that gripped the nation, particularly in Portland, has resulted in some businesses abandoning downtown metropolitan areas. In Chicago, questionable tactics by city officials funneled the violence into the suburbs on at least one occasion.

Criticism for the allegedly forthcoming proposal from Gov. DeSantis was swift. Visit the newspaper’s website for full details.

I’ll keep you updated, but in the meantime, here are some tips to survive if urban unrest comes to visit you.

Blackbird Products Partners with The Charlie Daniels Journey Home Project

From Blackbird Products

Blackbird Products Group, LLC, parent company of Mammoth Coolers and Mammoth PPE products, is proud to announce that they will be making a donation on every Mammoth Heritage Series cooler sold through June 30, 2021, to The Charlie Daniels Journey Home Project (TCDJHP), a veteran charity co-founded by the late country music icon and patriot Charlie Daniels and his personal Manager, David Corlew.

“Both Charlie and I were very excited about our new venture with Mammoth Coolers. With the passing of Charlie, we stand determined to carry on the American Patriot Spirit that both Charlie and Mammoth stand for,” said David Corlew, Founder and Executive Director of TCDJHP. “This also provides the opportunity to continue our mission with The Charlie Daniels Journey Home Project to support the needs of veterans and their reintegration back into civilian life.”

Bob George, Director of Sales and Marketing of Blackbird Products Group, LLC stated, “This project had been in development for over eight months, with the original plan to introduce it during the spring of 2020. When the pandemic hit, we put everything on hold as did everybody in the country. At that point, we started looking at a potential 2020 fall announcement. However, in July we received the devastating news that Charlie had passed away. We are very appreciative of Charlie’s family and The Charlie Daniels Journey Home Project as well as David Corlew for allowing us to move forward with this fund-raising project in Charlie’s honor.”

Michael Hannigan, CEO of Blackbird Products Group stated, “We are proud to honor those who have sacrificed so much and in doing so honor the late Charlie Daniels and the organization that he was so passionate about. The Charlie Daniels Journey Home Project will benefit from sales on all of the Heritage Series Coolers which consist of the 2nd Amendment, Don’t Tread On Me, Blue Line, Red Line, Old Glory, and the Betsy Ross Flag wrapped cooler. On behalf of our team and our valued dealers, it is our pleasure to thank and assist our veterans as they return to their pre-military lives”.

When referring to veterans, Daniels stated it best when he said, “We believe that every soldier has his or her own path. The path is different; the process remains the same; To Return. To Rehabilitate. To Reintegrate. We appreciate the opportunity to partner with Mammoth Coolers and to generate funds and most importantly knowledge around The Journey Home Project.”

Mammoth will also be promoting the partnership through promotional packaging, In-store promotions, social media outlets, and television commercials on several outdoor sports networks, including ESPN II.

About The Charlie Daniels Journey Home Project:

The Charlie Daniels Journey Home Project (TCDJHP) is a not-for profit organization that assists other not-for-profits in securing funds to help causes that benefit veterans of the United States Armed Forces. The organization was co-founded in 2014 by the late country music legend Charlie Daniels and his manager, David Corlew. Board members include Corlew, Major General Terry “Max” Haston (retired) and most recently in 2020, Hazel Daniels. Conscious of the need to assist our nation’s veterans, TCDJHP partners with organizations that do the most good, with the least overhead. Working in tandem with these organizations, TCDJHP is making a difference in the lives of American patriots.

Primary Arms Optics Sponsors Veteran’s Day ‘Legacy Jump’ Fundraising Event

From Primary Arms

Primary Arms Optics is proud to announce its sponsorship for Legacy Jump, a Veteran’s day extreme-sports fundraising event supporting veteran and first-responder charities. This televised event will be hosted at the National WWI Museum and Monument in Kansas City, MO, and features tandem skydiving and BASE-jumping demonstrations from American veterans.

Legacy Jump is hosted by the Bird’s Eye View Project, a veteran-focused 501(c)3 led by Ryan “Birdman” Parrott. Parrott is a former SEAL Team 7 veteran and Purple Heart recipient, who has dedicated his career to campaigning for veteran and first responder causes. Starting on the morning of November 11th, Legacy Jump will begin with a tandem skydive an all-veteran parachute team, which includes veterans from World War II, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, the Cold War, the Persian Gulf, the War in Afghanistan, and the War in Iraq. Parrott will cap off the event with a BASE jump from the memorial’s 217-foot tower, honoring POW-MIAs of the Great War.

“We are proud to be able to support Legacy Jump in this groundbreaking event,” says Dina Sanders, Primary Arms’ Brand Marketing Manager. “Veterans make up a core part of the Primary Arms team, so we’re always eager to support veteran and first-responder causes. Legacy Jump will bring a lot of new attention to issues close at heart.”

Legacy Jump is just one way that Primary Arms has supported veteran causes through 2020. In addition to their veteran discount program, Primary Arms recently received acknowledgement from Texas’ ‘We Hire Vets’ program, which highlights businesses that put an emphasis on veteran employment.

Walther Secures PPQ 9mm Pistol Contract with Berrien County SO

Walther Secures PPQ 9mm Pistol Contract with Berrien County SO

From Walther

Walther Arms Law Enforcement is pleased to announce that Berrien County Sheriff’s Office in Georgia has selected the Walther PPQ M2 9mm 4” as their new duty pistol. Berrien County Sheriff’s had previously carried .40 caliber semi-auto pistols and made the decision to transition to the 9mm for a variety of reasons. Rick DeMilt, Director of Law Enforcement Sales, stated that Berrien County Sheriff’s Office chose the Walther PPQ M2 9mm for many of the same reasons that other agencies have mentioned. Outstanding ergonomics combined with the smoothest striker fired trigger system in the firearms industry and outstanding accuracy. Adding to the excellent features of the pistol is the 1/10” reset, pushed the Walther Pistol to the forefront in the selection process.

How long will polymer framed handguns last? I interviewed the experts.

Once the delivery was made to the Berrien County Sheriff’s, Dave Barnes, Law Enforcement Channel Manager traveled to the agency and conducted a detailed Walther PPQ Armorers Training Class. The training class covered the required steps

in servicing the Walther Pistols. Delivery of the Walther pistols was made through the assistance of Walther’s Law Enforcement Distributor, SSD International.

In August, the Lorain County Sheriffs Office also converted to Walthers.

Springfield Armory Hellcat 9 mm Named Guns & Ammo Handgun of the Year

Springfield Armory Hellcat 9 mm Named Guns & Ammo Handgun of the Year

From Springfield Armory

Springfield Armory is proud to announce that its popular Hellcat 9 mm pistol has won the esteemed Guns & Ammo 2020 Handgun of the Year Award.

“During our year-long evaluation of the Hellcat, we have put several of the pistols through extensive testing,” says Eric Poole, editor of Guns & Ammo. “We’ve shot thousands of rounds through them, and we were able to shoot less than 2″ groups at 25 yards from a fixed rest. It’s clear that the Springfield Armory Hellcat and Hellcat OSP deserve this year’s Handgun of the Year honors.”

The micro compact +P-rated Hellcat features a class-leading capacity of 11+1 with its patented magazine — 13+1 with the included extended magazine — and has proven to be an extremely popular EDC choice for self-defense firearms purchasers. A 3″ hammer-forged barrel and a lowest weight of just 17.9 oz. empty ensure that the pistol is as easy to pack as it is to shoot well.

In addition to its minute dimensions and impressive power and capacity, the Hellcat OSP™ (optical sight pistol) variant allows for direct-mounting of compact red dot optics. An included removable seamless cover plate makes installation easy, and the optic can co-witness with the pistol’s excellent U-Dot™ sights — made up of a high visibility tritium and luminescent front sight paired with a tactical rack U-notch rear.

“We’ve been extremely proud of the Hellcat since its launch,” says Steve Kramer, Springfield Armory’s Vice President of Marketing. “So, receiving the recognition of the 2020 Handgun of the Year Award from such a respected name in the firearms media community means a great deal to us.”

Offered in standard and OSP versions as well as in black or FDE, the Hellcat has created a new standard for cutting-edge EDC. And, it gives CCW users a terrific option for their own self-defense needs.
