From NSSF
August is National Shooting Sports Month, a recognized time to celebrate the joys and rewards of recreational shooting nationwide. The National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) is encouraging businesses and individuals to go above and beyond normal efforts this month in bringing attention to the shooting sports and encouraging increased participation.
The NSSF is working with shooting sports ranges and retailers nationwide on a variety of fun events to get more people, friends and families engaged with the shooting sports this month. Special initiatives include the #RangeChallenge Summer Shots target games program, the +ONE Pledge, and Gearbox Giveaways.
Howard Leight Shooting Sports, a leading provider of diverse hearing- and eye-protection products for shooting sports enthusiasts, remains committed to such efforts year ‘round, primarily through its partnership with the NSSF’s First Shots program.
First Shots has helped ranges across the country introduce thousands of individuals to shooting and firearm safety since its inception in 2005. Developed by the NSSF and hosted by independent shooting facilities, the program provides participants with a comprehensive introduction to shooting by qualified range operators and instructors that includes firearm safety, local ownership requirements, shooting fundamentals, hands-on instruction and how and where to continue. Howard Leight supports the program by donating hearing and eye-protection to the thousands of promotional packages NSSF provides to all First Shots participants at host ranges across the United States.
Honeywell Howard Leight National Sales Manager, Chris Leight, says that first-time shooters need to have a positive experience in order to become shooting sports enthusiasts, and that’s why Howard Leight is such a passionate First Shots Partner. “The support that NSSF provides to participating First Shots ranges is incredible,” says Leight, “and really gives those ranges the extra resources they need to attract new shooting participants and make sure those folks have a great experience.”
