SAF Celebrates 50 Years

This year marks the 50th anniversary for the Second Amendment Foundation (SAF), and in celebration of the organization’s milestone, SAF has unveiled a special logo that will be used throughout 2024.

The new logo represents the tremendous accomplishment and honors the organization’s half-century of dedicated advocacy. Since its inception, SAF has been involved in more than 260 legal cases across the nation and has litigated – and won – cases at the highest levels of the American judicial system.

“When I started SAF in 1974, I only had one purpose in mind: Defending our firearms freedom one lawsuit at a time,” said SAF Founder and Executive Vice President Alan M. Gottlieb. “What began as my quest to ensure our right as Americans to keep and bear arms has grown into an organization that currently has 57 active cases, all with the same goal in mind—securing our Second Amendment rights for generations to come.”

In its 50-year history, SAF has achieved significant victories in the courts, most notably the landmark McDonald v. City of Chicago case. That decision – handed down by the Supreme Court of the United States – was critical to the fight against modern gun control laws. Thanks to that ruling, SAF and others have been able to fight for firearms freedom in states, cities and towns across America.

“Alan has built a tremendous foundation over the past 50 years, and as SAF expands, we will continue to honor his legacy of securing our Second Amendment rights,” said SAF Executive Director Adam Kraut. “For the past half-century, SAF has tirelessly defended the firearms freedom of American citizens, successfully challenging unconstitutional gun laws in the United States. It’s an honor to lead an organization like SAF and know the work we’re doing will have a ripple effect for years to come. I look forward to continuing to build on SAF’s solid foundation and I’m excited to see what the future holds for the organization.”
