Galco Pocket Holsters

Galco Pocket Holsters

From Galco

As temperatures drop and we head toward winter, most of us wear more layers or heavier coats. While this makes it easier to conceal bigger handguns, it also makes belt, shoulder or IWB holsters more difficult to access. Many of us will carry a second, smaller handgun in a coat pocket where it can be quickly and easily brought into action.

Pocket carry offers unique advantages. Not only is the handgun completely covered and concealed, but the carrier can casually place a hand on the holstered/pocketed pistol if a nonspecific threat appears. The fastest draw is to have the gun already in hand!

I interviewed several custom holster experts, and you may be surprised at how affordable they are.

A pocket holster keeps the firearm in the same general position so the grip can be quickly located during the draw, conceals the shape of the gun so that its outline doesn’t print through the pocket, and allows one-handed release of gun from both pocket and holster.

Galco has a long history with pocket holsters, starting with the Front Pocket Holster design, constructed of extremely durable and long-lasting horsehide.

The Pocket Protector™ is made of Premium Center Cut Steerhide™, a sturdy but supple leather napped on both sides, and reinforced at the holster mouth.

Galco’s newest pocket holster, the StukOn-U™, uses a synthetic Gripper Shell™ exterior to help grab the inside of the pocket, closed-cell foam substrate for shape and sturdiness, and 420 denier packcloth lining.

Note that – when using any pocket holster – the holster should always be removed from the pocket when holstering the handgun.
